Prof. Saito attended the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) 32nd Session of the Assembly as a member of the Japanese delegation. At the Assembly, Prof. Yutaka Michida, AORI, was elected as IOC Chair. This is the first time a Japanese person has been elected as Chairperson since the inception of the IOC in 1960.
